What is the Great Mail Race?
Welcome to the Great Mail Race! This is an exciting opportunity for students to learn more about writing letters, sending mail, and learning all about the United States of America. In our class, we share the letters, look up the area on Google Earth, and talk about the geography of that area or the state. You can join the race, too! Option 1: You can use the school list on the Great Mail Race website.
Option 2: If you want to find a city you are interested in or that has an interesting name:
Click on this link then follow these steps:
- Click on the arrow next to "State"
- Choose a state
- Click on "Browse" next to city
- A little window pops up, click on the city you like
- You will be back in the first window. Click on
- There will be a list of schools in that city. Find a school that has 5th Grade in it (Look at the part I highlighted in yellow below). Click on the school's name.
- Write down the School Name and Mailing Address. I have highlighted these in red. Remember to copy these down exactly. Look under "Status" to see if it says operational. If it does not, do not use this school. You will see this highlighted in yellow below.
